Drinking water is something many people do not do. Some people are unaware exactly how important water is for ones’ health and some could even go a whole day without realising just how dehydrated they are. Some feel that drinking hot beverages will help keep them hydrated, however, much of these beverages are caffeinated and ultimately act as a diuretic to the system. So in effect, if you are drinking water and drinking tea or coffee, you are actually losing fluid.

Many offices and public building have installed water coolers and dispensers to try to instigate a healthier option to drinking. Fruit juices and fizzy drinks contain plenty of sugar and calories. These are like liquid calories to your body, so it may feel like you are not eating very much and drinking plenty of fluids, but in the end you are piling on the calories. Each soft drink is as much calories as a typically normal meal. Furthermore, you absorb all of the sugars and additives, but expel much of the water.

Installing water coolers in the work area and in public places ensures people that there is perfectly filtered water available for people to top up on their water intake. Alternatively, people are free to purchase a small bottle of water, yet there are some people who forget to keep themselves hydrated and so end up feeling lethargic. This may not even be an important issue for many people and are possibly unaware of the damage it is causing to their health.

Dehydration is a common problem that many people do not realise they are suffering from; some of the symptoms can be in the form of headaches, dry throat, tiredness, lack of concentration and lethargy. In addition, people that do not drink enough water, will break out into bad skin conditions, dry hair and in turn suffer from stomach problems, which include constipation and for women urinary tract infections.

This is not a good sign when all of the above problems are resolved by quick fix medication, as often the solution is as simple as taking a trip to your nearest taps, water coolers or dispensers and taking a drink of water. Drinking refreshes your sense, flushes out any toxins in the body, improves your skin condition and reduces any feelings of lethargy. You are immediately more alert, you begin to focus better and ultimately feel more energetic. It is better to drink water that is room temperature so it is easier to absorb into the body, however, in some cases drinking cooled water is a good way of reducing body temperature on a hot day.

For hot beverages, many people prefer to drink tea, hot chocolate or coffee. These are fine as long as they are decaffeinated. As an alternative, there are herbal teas or Guarana as an alternative to drinking coffee. These are not always going to be top choice for many people, but they are far better for your internal system than drinking copious amounts of caffeine based drinks. Drinking alcohol also dehydrates the body; therefore, it is a good idea to remember to drink plenty of fluids in between the cocktail drinking!

Pet owners want nothing but the best for their pets. This is often shown in their grooming and the food that they are eating. One thing that often gets taken for granted is the water they are drinking. Just like us humans, they need a steady amount of water in order to keep them going through the day. Unfortunately, there are many cats and dogs that struggle to turn the faucet just to drink. Even far worse are the moments where some dogs drink water from the toilet seat or in puddles across the street, endangering their well-being. The pet fountain is for these animals that should get clean water that they deserve.

What Is a Pet Fountain?

A pet fountain is basically a water fountain designed for your pets. It looks very much like a pet bowl but with water reservoir on one end. Simple ones rely on gravity-tight design to create a slow drip of water into the bowl.

There are also electronic versions that make it easier for your pets to have their fill of water by automatically supplying it. Most models determine the water level in the bowl and will refill it whenever the bowl is almost empty.

Making It Safer

Most pet fountains today give the owners the choice of the water they put in the reservoir. As an added protection, they also provide a filter to further rid the water of any possible debris. These filters are often replaceable, and you can use another brand if you want to. This feature makes for another compelling reason why you should get a pet fountain.

Oxygenation

In a move that most water dispensers for humans would envy, some pet fountains now oxygenate water in the reservoir. The pet fountain does this by inserting a constant stream of air bubbles into the water. This makes the water healthier, and in turn, your pets will be healthier too. The regular movement of the water in the tank also prevents the possible buildup of bacteria. The valve that controls the flow of air can also be adjustable.

Portable Fountains

On the other end of the spectrum are simple but portable pet fountains. They usually carry a smaller amount of water but are great for the casual walk in the park or hike in the woods. These pet fountains are often devoid of any technology and rely on a simple mechanism to supply water. Owners would have to hold the bowl and invert the gallon. These pet fountains are light enough, though, for them to be held in one hand.

Due to their active behavior, water to replenish your pets must be readily available. A steady amount of water not only keeps them replenished but also cools them down after a long hot day outside. Just by drinking water, your pet will be able to avoid certain ailments and be leaner since drinking water reduces the buildup of fat. The pet fountain does all this and makes sure that your pet will not get dehydrated when you are away.
