Do I Need A Plumber For A Side-bu-side Fridge With Water And Ice Dispenser?

I moved in this house 2 yrs ago and recently bought a new fridge to replace the old crappy 1970′s looking one that was here. It is a GE side by side with ice and water dispenser on door. I thought I would need a plumber to run the water line but when I pulled it out to clean back there I notced I do have a water spicket back there. Do I still need a plumber? I am paying the $10 for the guys who move it in the hosue to hook it up but dont know if I need more then what is already there. What I saw was a square hole neatly cut into the wall behind fridge and a water spicket valve. Thanks!

You need an icemaker installation kit from the home store, the plastic tubing is easier, the only other thing is the connection to the valve, it must be adapted to 1/4″ compression, you can do this!

if your getting a new GE it should have the line attached to the frig and you wont need anything else. you might pick up a ice maker water line kit just to be safe.. you can always return it

No, you do not need a plumber. It reads like you have already agreed to pay $10.00 to the delivery person, that should do it for you.
The fridge may have what they need, if not they agreed to hook it up, they should pay for any materials they may need.

as long as water line has a sleeve and compression nut all you have to do is screw it in to fridge,so I would need more info….if I had to guess on info you gave, its probably already their,so yea you probably are getting ripped.sorry……….

sounds like as long as you have the copper tubing kit to hook up water you can easily do it yourself
